Last week I participated in what my school calls Week Without Walls. It gives learning opportunities to students throughout high school and gives some grades the chance to travel on service trips. I went to Thailand with Mr. Relf, my favourite teacher, and our entire team built a house in two days for a family who needed it.

The service trips really give people the opportunity to experience another culture and help someone in need. In Thailand we got to go to Bangkok and Chiangmai as well as Chiang Dao where we stayed in a village and helped build a house so a family can have sustainable living.

Week Without Walls is really important for all grades because it gives us a learning opportunity we would not usually have in school. Going to Thailand, people became more grateful for the things they have, more compassionate towards others and have a better understanding of the impact that they are capable of making in the world around them.

For me Thailand was an adventure and a half. I became closer with some of my friends, figured out a little bit about myself and had a general good time. Chiangmai was my personal favourite part just because it felt less busy than Bangkok and it was the city that I would have no problem living in if I ever moved to Thailand. I had a lot of fun at the temples and doing Muay Thai.

I would highly recommend doing a Week Without Walls service trip because it is both rewarding and fun and you really do discover a lot on the trip.
